Tvådela House
Kelowna
Tvådela House is a sustainable modern lakeside home that explores the balance between bold architectural form and a refined material palette. Rooted along the shores of Okanagan Lake, the residence maintains a strong connection to place. Nature shapes each design decision and guides the relationship between structure, landscape, and light.
Named after the Swedish word for “split,” the design features two intersecting volumes that create a bold presence on site. The upper level cantilevers at the rear and extends outward to frame the lake, and this gesture reinforces a sense of balance within the landscape. As a result, the duality between solidity and openness anchors the home to its lakeside context.
The CLT structure is clad in stucco to bring together durability, material warmth, and tactile expression. Inside, the spaces demonstrate the home’s connection to nature through expansive glazing, soft daylight, and a calm interior palette. Together, these elements support both daily living and retreat.
Meanwhile, the outdoor living areas, including a pool, deck, and generous lakeside terraces, extend the architecture toward the water.
They create spaces for quiet reflection, gathering, and seasonal living. In turn, these exterior zones deepen the home’s dialogue with its surroundings and reinforce the design intent: a residence where form, materiality, and landscape work in harmony.
Tvådela House stands as a study in contrast and cohesion. It is a modern home rooted in its environment and shaped by clarity, craft, and a strong architectural vision. As a sustainable modern lakeside home, it blends environmental intention with contemporary design, creating a living environment that feels both grounded and expressive.
