Quarry Cottage
Britannia Beach
Quarry House is a sculptural residence set along the cliffs of British Columbia’s Sea to Sky coastline. Composed of three cantilevered volumes clad in mirrored black glass, the home both reflects and amplifies its surroundings, allowing the landscape to become an active part of the architecture while maintaining a distinctly bold presence.
Interior spaces are organized to maximize connection to the site. A generous great room, three bedrooms, private gym, sauna, and a custom infinity pool are all oriented toward expansive ocean views, framed through floor-to-ceiling glazing. Light, water, and horizon define the experience of the home, blurring the boundary between inside and out.
The material palette balances ruggedness with refinement. Board-formed concrete using reclaimed railway ties anchors the structure, while slatted wood ceilings introduce warmth and texture throughout the interior. These elements ground the architecture in its context while reinforcing a sense of craft and material honesty.
Sustainability is integrated seamlessly through solar panels, geothermal heating and cooling, and greywater retention systems, supporting long-term performance without compromising clarity of form. With its minimal footprint and dynamic composition, Quarry House is both anchored to the land and suspended above it, an immersive response to place that unites restraint, luxury, and environmental sensitivity.
